Territorial distribution and structure of the wolf population in the Caucasus Nature Reserve

The sex and age structure of three wolf packs was studied in the Caucasian nature reserve. The dependence of the composition of temporary hunting groups on the season of the year has been established. Single wolves accounted for 30.9%—34.8%, groups of 2 wolves and more for 61.9%—65.2% of recorded occurrences. Specific features of scent-marking behaviour and use of home ranges are discussed.
